Official response

Despite what our sources are telling us and the fact that Foxconn has already closed down one office in Taipei, Taiwan, where its consumer motherboard products were designed, we've been contacted by Foxconn with regards to our story that their channel business was to shut its doors.

A Ms Sidney Tsai that works for the PR department at Foxconn's mother company, Hon Hai Technology, got in touch with us and informed us that the Foxconn Channel business is not set to close. The email also suggests that Foxconn will be at Computex this year.

However, we're still very certain that our sources are correct in the matter that Foxconn will be pulling out of the high-end motherboard market. We have many reasons for believing so and we can only bide our time now for an official announcement or confirmation from another third party source.

To be clear, we never said that Foxconn was closing down, just that one small division was being closed. We might've gotten the specific name of this department slightly wrong in our initial story, but this doesn't make the story any less true.

We'll keep an eye on the developments as they proceed and keep you up to date if there are any changes to this story.
