Comes with 3-years warranty and Eco label

HP has finally launched its new range of Enviro "green" batteries based on the technology from Boston Power which is an enhanced version of lithium-ion batteries which Boston Power calls Sonata lithium-ion.

Besides the claim of being more environmentally friendly, two of the key aspects as far as consumers are concerned is the guaranteed three year life span, HP offers a three year warranty on these batteries, and the fact that they're meant to achieve 80 percent charge in only 30 minutes. However, it's not clear if the HP batteries will charge this quick or not from the current information on HP's website.

The battery also carries the Scandinavian Swan symbol which is a certification for environmentally sound products. The new batteries are compatible with a wide range of HP notebook and HP claims they have models that fit up to 70 percent of its current notebook range. Sadly there doesn't seem to be an option for the new DV2 and DV3 models.

At US$149.99 (€116/£107) the new batteries are also competitively priced compared to regular lithium-ion batteries if they live up to the claimed three year life span.
