Symbian powered?

Nokia's Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has gone on record during an interview with Finnish TV channel YLE, saying that Nokia is considering getting into the notebook business. Considering the many ways things are changing, both in consumer usage and the types of devices we use today, this isn't the strangest thing Nokia has ever done.*

Kallasvuo is quoted saying "We don't have to look even for five years from now to see that what we know as a mobile phone and what we know as a PC are in many ways converging" and although Nokia seems to be a little bit late into the game, it's at least not too late to join the party.

We'd expect Nokia's notebooks to be somewhat different from what's on the market today, especially as Nokia has an invested interest into adding some kind of data connectivity service to them as standard. Even more so when you take into consideration that Nokia in the past has stated that their phones are computers and excellent devices for internet access.

We can only speculate on what kind of notebooks we'll see from Nokia, but all things considered, we have a feeling that it will be something a little bit different to what we've become accustomed to. With all the hype about Android being ported to netbooks, it's very possible that Nokia might consider doing a version of Symbian for these types of devices, but for now, this is just pure speculation.
