Available for pre-order in the US

Although it was officially unveiled back at IFA 2017 in August, Asus' Windows Mixed Reality headset has just been officially launched and is available for pre-order in the US.

Spotted by TheVerge.com with a price of US $429, the Asus Windows Mixed Reality headset features two 2.89-inch 1440x1440 resolution (2880x1440 combined resolution ) screens with 100nits of brightness and 90Hz refresh rate, 95-degree field of view, two inside-out tracking cameras and usual set of sensors, including gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, and P-sensor.

The headset weighs just under 400g, uses HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 connections and comes with two 6DoF controllers.

Bear in mind that there are several Windows Mixed Reality headsets around from the likes of Acer, Samsung, or Lenovo, all priced at US $399 at the Microsoft Store, while some  are more expensive, like the ones from Dell or HP, go for US $449.

The Windows Mixed Reality headsets are slowly catching up and there are not that many applications or games that will allow you to experience augmented reality, but that should eventually change.
