Silent series is the first

GELID Solutions, a Hong Kong-based company recently started by ex-Arctic Cooling chaps, has just announced its first CPU cooler, the Silent Spirit. The new cooler will be a part of Gelid's Silent series, while the one from the Gamer series will hopefully come soon. The new cooler boasts quad heatpipes, intelligent PWM, unique heatsink angle design and anti-vibration fan mounts.

The new CPU cooler is cooled by a 92mm fan mounted on the angled heatsink. The fan spins from 900 to 2400 RPM and produces 10 to 25.8 dBAs of noise. It also provides a maximum of 45.8 CFM of airflow and comes with four rubber fan mounts that should eliminate any unwanted vibrations.

The heatsink is placed at a slight angle, which gives this cooler a chance to cool the components around the CPU but without creating so-called air back-flow. The heatsink itself has a unique arrangement and architecture for the fins so that the air can pass and evenly flow through it in order to get maximum performance.

Four heatpipes are soldered on the copper base and connected to the nickel plated aluminum heatsink. It also features a pre-applied Gelid GC-1 thermal compound. The new Silent Spirit supports Intel Socket 775 and AMD's Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+ processors. The cooler comes with a five-year warranty and has a suggested price of US $35 or €23.
