Apple, Inc. patched 13 vulnerabilities in its Safari browser that updates the browser to Version 3.1. Apple indicated that 10 of the flaws affected both Windows and Mac Safari editions, and 3 affected Windows XP and Windows Vista editions of Safari.

Apple also indicated that most of the vulnerabilities were cross-site scripting bugs, which are used by phishers and identity thieves, and can be used to install malware on a machine.

Apple spelled out the details of the vulnerabilities here in its security advisory that accompanied the Safari 3.1 update.

The Safari 3.1 browser can be downloaded from Apple in versions for Windows XP, Windows Vista, OS X 10.4 (Tiger), and OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
