Man tries to shoot wife over Facebook addiction

by on27 December 2011

Merry Christmas honey, pass the Pabst Blue Ribbon

51-year-old Harry Hibbs Jr. of Washington County was jailed on attempted homicide, assault and reckless endangerment charges after he tried to shoot his wife on Christmas Eve.

The reason? Well, Hibbs was apparently slightly miffed that his wife, Anna Hibbs, was spending way too much on Facebook, so he put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger. Luckily, his gun maintenance skills seem to be on par with his social skills, so the gun jammed.

He then proceeded to hit his wife in the face with the broken gun, all in plain view of the couple's two children. After receiving reports of a domestic disturbance, police rushed to the scene only to find Hobbs leaving the family trailer with a rifle. He was disarmed and taken into custody without incident.

Hibbs later told police that he was “tired of his wife being on Facebook” and fed up with everything. Police confiscated several guns following a search of his trailer. It’s not clear whether they were jammed as well.
