Ends a six-year partnership with T-Mobile

Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee shop chain, has said that their six-year partnership with T-Mobile for wireless hot spot service is at an end, and they will be switching to AT&T. The company plans to offer a mix of free and pay WiFi options in more than 7,000 locations in the U.S. starting later this spring.

The plan calls for Starbucks to give two free hours of WiFi access per day to customers that use its Starbucks purchase card. Beyond the first two hours, additional hours will cost $3.99 per two-hour session. Starbucks will offer monthly WiFi memberships that will provide unlimited access to more than 70,000 AT&T hot sports for $19.99 per month.

As a bonus, those who already use AT&T as their Internet service provider will automatically have unlimited WiFi access at Starbucks. The new deal is said to not affect Apple iPhone and iPod Touch owners who have been using Starbucks access to play and download content from iTunes.
