What do we make of this?

It seems that Dell is shifting their AMD processor based offering to being available at the retail level only. According to the Dell Web site, the Latitude D531, Vostro 1000, and the OptiPlex 740 are no longer available for Web purchase. While these models appear to be still available at the retail level, you will have to make the trek to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or Staples to purchase one.

At first we were not 100 percent sure what to make of it, but since pricing at the retail level is more competitive and sensitive, it stands to reason that this might be the best place to put your value offerings. Of course, this could also be a clear indication of Dell’s intention to focus on Intel processors in future offerings for the time being. While we can’t confirm this, it does seem somewhat logical given the evidence that we have so far.
