Split/Second to get DLC after all

by on09 August 2010

Will arrive later this month, if all goes well
Sources are now confirming to us that Split/Second from Disney developer Blackrock Studios will be getting some downloadable content after all. It was originally feared by fans of the game that somewhat poor sales had contributed to the developer’s decision to move on to a new and yet unannounced project.

We are now hearing that Split/Second will be getting what is being described as a “major DLC pack” that will include a new environment to race in. In addition, the game will also be getting three packs of new cars. One of the new car packs will be free to download and is expected to arrive later this month.

The major DLC pack that includes the new environment is due to arrive in September. Pricing for the DLC content has not been announced, nor have the exact dates for release. We do know that the DLC content will be first available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with plans for a PC release of the DLC packs unknown at this time.

Sources also tell us that conversion of the game to the PSP platform continue, as well as development of a new title that the studio continues to work on. There is no word yet when an actual announcement will occur of what this new project might be, but we are told to expect an announcement at some point next year. While some are suggesting that the new game might be a sequel to the AVT stunt title Pure, our sources tell us that this is very unlikely.
