Microsoft confident with huge profits
Plans expansion
Microsoft recorded record profits for its past quarter. According to a press release, Microsoft's profit soared 23 percent to $4.29 billion, from $3.48 billion during the same period last year. "Halo 3" was one of the biggest money makers, but increased sales of Windows and Office mean the company did much better than analysts expected.
The company sold 88 million copies of Windows Vista since the operating system went on sale in January and 28 million since the end of July. This made Microsoft $4.14 billion in revenue in the quarter.
It also had 27 percent more annual license agreements for Windows than in the same period one year ago. Sales of Office 2007 software suite rose 20 percent to $4.11 billion.
