More patent infringement claimed

In what seems to be an unending string of patent infringement lawsuits in the technology market space, U.S.-based Quantum Corporation has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Riverbed Technologies, Inc.

Quantum, a global storage company specializing in backup, recovery and archive solutions that provides an integrated range of disk, tape and software solutions, brought the claim on the basis that Riverbed is selling products that employ a method of data de-duplication that is protected by a Quantum patent.  Riverbed Technologies, Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, California, is a leading provider of wide area data services (WDS).

Riverbed issued a statement that is has no knowledge or reason to believe that it is infringing any patents or interests of any third party.
