Will cost $30 billion
The Wall Street Journal claims that Intel is exploring a deal to buy GlobalFoundries in a move that would turbocharge the semiconductor giant's plans to make more chips for other tech companies and rate as its largest acquisition ever.
Cash spent at three plants
GlobalFoundries will invest $1.4 billion this year to raise output at three factories in the United States, Singapore and Germany.
They are still friends
Dispite AMD's deals with other foundries, it seems the fabless chip maker is still a litte too contractly close with GlobalFoundries. AMD announced it is making another payment to GlobalFoundries, precisely because of those other deals.
Will only pay for chips that work
