Alcatel, one of the brands of TCL Communication, launched a rather unique phone with a really attractive price point. The Alcatel 3V has the 18:9 (2:1) near bezel-less design, a custom six inch TCL 2K display, dual camera, fingerprint sensor, Face Key biometric security, all for $149.99.

American's loss is Mediatek's gain

Mediatek Inc has received an export permit from its government to sell components to ZTE Corp, a Chinese telecoms equipment maker subjected to restrictions in the United States.

Margins and operating profit fall

Mobile phone chip designer MediaTek reported 48.4 percent annual growth in net profit for the first quarter of the year, buoyed by a huge asset disposal gain as its operating profit dipped.
