AMD catching up

Intel is starting production of its 32nm parts in Q4 2009. They will be ramping up production for launch, scheduled for Q1 2010. AMD is nowhere near that schedule and the earliest that they will come with their 32nm chips is most likely Q3 2010 if not even later.

By the time AMD launches its first 32nm CPU, Intel will already be shipping them for almost three quarters. It first plans to start with 32nm Clarkdale / Arrandale and already in Q2 2010 it plans to launch 32nm based six-core Gulftown.

We can only hope that the 32nm version of AMD’s quad-core is going to be on schedule, and according to the current schedule, it should be out in 2H of 2010.
