First benchmarks out

Xiaomi is working on a successor to its highly successful Xiaomi Mi Mix and it looks like that the new phone will have the Snapdragon 835 under the bonnet.

The first Xiaomi Mi Mix phone is powered by the Snapdragon 821 and is a unique phone without little bezel and incredible 91.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio. There is a successor in the works and the latest leak indicates that the Mi  has the latest Snapdragon from Qualcomm.

The Geekbench 4.0 lists the processor as MSM8998 which might be an internal codename for the Snapdragon 835. This is the latest 10nm SoC that supports Snapdragon X16 1Gbps modem and a  LPDDR 4 and Adreno 540 GPU.

The phone comes with 4GB memory and there are some indications that there will be a 6GB version coming with more storage. The phone comes with eight cores, and Qualcomm already detailed that there will be four cores based on Kryo 280 cores working up to 2.45 GHz and four slower, power saving cores at 1.9 GHz.

We are not surprised to see Android 6.0.1 powering this prototype phone as Xiaomi with its latest MIUI 8.1.1.12 Beta software still used Android 6.0 and not the latest 7.0 / 7.1 versions.

The Xiami MIX EVO looks like an interesting phone and one can only hope that the company plans to introduce it at the Mobile World congress that is scheduled to start on 27 February. Some companies including Huawei already announced that they will have a press conference a day earlier, on the 26 February 26 and we still have to hear from Xiaomi about their press event.

Our industry sources have confirmed that the Xiaomi MI6 comes with Snapdragon 835.
