Expected to launch shortly after AT&T

Yesterday,
we told you that AT&T would be getting the Onyx or BlackBerry 9700 first in the U.S. market. What we could not really run down at the time is what we can now confirm: T-Mobile will also get the 9700 in as little as a few weeks after AT&T’s launch.

As we have already told you yesterday, AT&T will get the “charcoal” colored version, while the T-Mobile version will be in “silver with chrome accents” version.

The addition of the 9700 into the T-Mobile lineup is an interesting addition, as company just recently added the BlackBerry Curve 8520. We predict that there will be more than a few T-Mobile customers that will be sorry that they didn’t wait for the 9700.

With field tests of the 9700 being conducted by both AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S., this might mean that the 9700 is much closer to release than anyone is figuring at this point. We still stand by our prediction that the launch isn’t yet imminent, but we think it could be as soon as mid to late September, followed by a T-Mobile release in November, according to the latest from our moles.
