Radeon R9 290 and 290X allegedly benchmarked

by on15 October 2013

Faster than GTX 780 and GTX Titan

According to alleged gaming and synthetic benchmarks from Expreview and ZOL that eariler brought detailed pictures of the HIS-branded reference design Radeon R9 290X graphics card, we now also can see the performance of both the Radeon R9 290X as well as the R9 290 and how they compare against the Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 and GTX Titan.

According to benchmarks collected by Wccftech.com, the Radeon R9 290X indeed ends up a bit faster than the GTX Titan. It does not pull ahead by much and we are talking about 6 percent on average and it is even slower in 3DMark 11 while in FireStrike they are neck and neck. The Radeon R9 290 holds its ground well against the GTX 780 as well - the average is just about same, the Radeon allegedly ends up around 6 percent faster.

Of course, these are still early benchmarks and we will have to wait just a bit longer to see the official ones as AMD apparently decided to postpone the launch for just a few days.

You can check out all benchmark slides over at Wccftech.com. Oh, and need we say that the numbers should be taken with a grain of salt?
