AMD Rx200 series launch hurt Nvidia sales

by on15 October 2013

In Europe

We have heard from a few AIBs that AMD’s latest launch has upset the current graphics market. The last quarter of the year is traditionally a good time for computer component sales and with games like Battlefield 4 and GTA V just around the corner, it's definitely a good time for a new graphics card.

Some Nvidia partners have felt an immediate slowdown in their sales as soon as AMD introduced its new cards and consumers are eagerly waiting to learn the real performance of the new Radeon R9 290X and see whether if it can go head to head with Nvidia’s Titan. Although we are still not sure about the price, the flagship Radeon R9 290X is definitely going to end up cheaper than the Titan which might steal some of the sales from Nvidia’s super high end Titan class.

Nvidia has adjusted some of its pricing in the low to mid range, which might help it recover some sales but with reintroduction of Never Settle, we believe that AMD might gain even more supporters for its new – old Rx200 series cards.

Frankly the graphics segment was boring for quite some time, the last year or so, but this quarter definitely brings some fun and plenty of competition. Getting a lot of cool games out will definitely boost the PC games sales in the holiday season and will help PC gaming fight against next generation consoles that are just weeks away from launch.
