Xbox 360 exclusive window finally ends

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 fans who happen to be playing the game on the PlayStation 3 or the PC might be excited to learn that the exclusive release window on the Xbox 360 for the Resurgence map pack is finally coming to an end.

PlayStation 3 and PC owners will finally be able to purchase the map pack if they desire starting on July 6th. The map pack will be sold for $15, the same as the Stimulus map pack that arrived back in April.

The Resurgence map pack contains five maps: Conversions of Vacant and Strike from the original Modern Warfare title and three new maps, which are Carnival, Trailer Park, and Fuel.  The July 6th release date on the PS3 and PC is currently confirmed for North America, but our sources tell us that Europeans should be able to get it the next day, or July 7th, if you will.

For those that missed it, Microsoft struck a deal with Activision/Infinity Ward by which these two map packs would have an exclusive release window on the Xbox 360 platform, prior to release on the PS3 and PC. Xbox 360 owners have been able to purchase the Resurgence map pack since June 3rd.

We continue to hear whispers about a possible third map pack for CODMW2, but that still remains unconfirmed at this time. It is possible that Activision might go to the well one last time before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, but we suspect that if it isn't announced at E3, then it is unlikley that one more map pack is in the the pipeline.
