Decision might be marketing related

According to several sources in the land of Apple, the company is in the process of dropping the sale of protective screen film of all types for Apple products from within the company’s retail stores. Despite the fact that protective screen film is one of the best selling and most requested items by consumers, this decision by Apple is somewhat puzzling.

From what we have been able to find out, the decision will affect all forms of protective screen films, including those that are film-only solutions or those that are included as part of a package (like those that are included with a case. for example). No matter the type of screen film, including those that are clear, anti-glare, and mirrored, these films will be dropped from the store inventory in a move that is expected to be completed by May.

While Apple has no comment on the decision, as is par for the course, vendors who sell screen film or products that use screen film as part of their packaging suggest that the decision may have more to do with a marketing decision than anything else. From the whispers that we hear, it could be a move by Apple to suggest screen durability. Still, from our own experience, scratches still occur no matter if the screen type is glass or plastic.
