Inventec to build in Southwest China
Notebooks move away from Taiwan
Inventec the world's fourth largest contract notebook computer maker is spending $800 million to build a plant in southwestern China. It is a move that will see the Taiwanese outfit move back to the mainland on a crucial part of its manufacturing.
Inventec said in a statement it had signed an agreement for the five-year investment project with the government of Chongqing. The outfit already has a China manufacturing base in Shanghai.
The Chongqing facility will focus on notebook computer manufacturing and then expand to servers, mobile communications and software production, Inventec said.
