10 points to Slytherin

Windows 7
has raced past Harry Potter in Amazon's UK pre-order sales making it the best selling pre-order of all time.

Pre-orders for Windows 7 began in the United Kingdom on July 15, and temporarily sold out on Amazon that same day. It pre-sold more copies on Amazon in its first eight hours than Vista did in its entire pre-order period.

Since then the only product to ever knock Windows 7 off the top slot were the Dan Brown novel. The reason for Windows success in pre-orders was the price. If you pre-ordered the OS in the UK you could cop the Home Premium edition for £49.99 instead of £79.99 from July 15 to August 14.

Windows 7 has been getting good reviews from early adopters. So what do you have to say for yourself Potter? (Nothing. I have a Mac. sub.ed.)
