Apple delays new Air Tags

Sex pests will have to use old technology for now

Apple has decided to delay the release of a new version of its tool of choice for sex pests, the Air Tag.

The Air Tag 2 was supposed to hit mass production later next year, but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the device is taking a rain check until 2025.

The hardware has been on repeat since its launch in April 2021, but the software got updates, especially as it became revealed that it was being used by Apple fanboys to stalk those who don’t want to be their girlfriend. Then it became involved in a few shootings where Apple fanboys either tracked armed criminals and were shot, or shot those who they suspected of being armed criminals.

There is a current court case in California court which accuses Apple of allowing the tracking product to become "one of the most dangerous and frightening technologies employed by stalkers" since they can be used to generate "real-time location information to track victims."

The number of AirTag stalking cases is on the rise and the plaintiffs say that Apple has not done enough to stop AirTag trackers from stalking people.

The complaint reveals that "Consequences have been as severe as possible: multiple murders have occurred in which the murderer used an AirTag to track the victim." The plaintiffs are upset over what they say is an "explosion of reporting" about new stalking cases with 19 taking place in one metropolitan area alone. That would be Tulsa, Oklahoma.
