Intel has decided that its 160Gb SSD will cost an arm and a leg, something that is a little odd in these days of global recession. Chipzilla has decided to flog its 160GB SSD for $945. A 64GB SSD which for a third of the capacity is only $220
Intel has been behind its competition in the capacity wars for SSDs. Even the new 160GB capacity is measly in comparison to the massive 512GB SSD that Toshiba announced it will be shipping. True, we don't know how much Toshiba will charge for the 512GB SSD, but some are predicting about $1,600.
Intel's 2.5-inch SSDs are sized for laptops and 1.8-inch versions of the drive will ship next month for ultraportable laptops.
