Is Apple ordering 3 million CDMA iPhones?

Order coming December for January Verizon launch
In the ever popular merry-go-round that is the Apple CDMA iPhone on Verizon, the latest news from sources are claiming that Apple is poised to place an order in December for 3 million CDMA iPhones for a January launch on Verizon. This is again the latest round of when is the iPhone actually really coming to Verizon.

According to a number of sources, Apple has placed an order for 3 million CMDA chips from vender Qualcomm for use in the build. As to when the actual confirmation of the iPhone on Verizon will come, it seems that the bets are on an announcement by Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg in January at CES; but some believe that Apple itself might opt to make the announcement at Mac World instead at the end of January.

We believe that a Mac World announcement is unlikely, given Apple’s recent move away from the annual conference, but you never know. Apple might opt to hold a press conference of its own during January to make the official announcement.

Still hard to tell what is going to happen next, but it does seem something is afoot when Apple orders 3 million CDMA chips. Despite other reports suggesting a new CDMA iPad or a new iPad in general after the first of the year, no one seems to want to talk about it; but some seem to think it is going to happen in January.

We will have to just wait and see, but so many times have hopes been dashed for those who want an iPhone on Verizon. We just can’t get too excited, as we are to the point that we will only believe it when we see it.
