New Atom CPU to come

There will be a new desktop dual and single core Atom and these new Pineview based CPUs will come with support for DDR3 memory.

Single-core Atom D410 and dual Atom D510 that are scheduled to launch in January will come with DDR2 support and by middle of 2010, Intel will release new versions of these CPUs that will be able to work with DDR3 memory.

Since the memory controller is inside the CPU, they will launch two re-engineered CPUs and these will support DDR3 800. The only downside is that Pineview-D desktop platform will only support SODIMM DDR3 modules while Pineview-D platform with Atom D410 and D510 can support normal DIMM sockets.

This is quite an unexpected move from Intel, as they will launch two new versions of Atom Pinetrail 2010 CPUs within two quarters from each other, but obviously, Intel partners wanted DDR3 in Atom and got it.
