We managed to find out that the successor to the Pine-trail 2010 netbook and nettop based Atom platform is codenamed Cedar Trail and this chip is set to launch at some point in 2011.

We don’t have any additional details than the launch date and the name but we can suspect that after two generations of 45nm, Intel might be ready to move Atom to 32nm if not even 22nm process and get even more power efficient products on market.

The whole point of Atom, as an Intel Vice President told us a while ago, is to get more integration and cheaper platform for Intel partners and we can assume that Intel will continue down this road.

Pine Trail based Atom N450 and N470, as well as D410 and D510, will cater to Intel partners throughout 2010 and next year Cedar Trail will take the crown and possibly bring a serious performance increase as well.
