Intel is planning to introduce two new desktop Atoms, and it will brand the dual-core part D510, while the D410 brand is reserved for the single core.

The new CPUs will feature an IGP on the CPU and overall 70 percent smaller platform compared to nettop 2008 based on original Atom 230 / 330 and 965GSE chipset.

The new Atoms will also support DDR2 800MHz memory, but already in Q2 2010 they might get a speed update. The existing D510 and D410 will both work at 1.66GHZ, just 60MHz faster than the N270, and at the exact same clock as the N280, but as of Q2 2010 Intel leaves the opportunity to launch a faster Atom.

The speed update is still on ice but, Intel has fixed plans for Q1 2010 confirming that it will stick with 1.66GHz clocked Atom D510 and D410, but in Q2 2010 it left an opportunity to upgrade Atom generation with potentially faster new models. It might happen that Intel decides to stick with the Atom D510 and D410 and decides not to change anything.

We will have to wait at least a little bit more, until Intel fixes its plans.
