Mr Byrne promoted and so is Mr Soraya

In case you haven’t heard this before, AMD has introduced some changes in its top sales machine and some of the people we know for quite a while got promoted.

John Byrne, formerly Vice president of worldwide GPU sales, is now Vice president of Worldwide CPU and GPU sales. AMD recognized the success of John’s team in helping ATI beat Nvidia with its 48x0 based products and got ATI in much better position than before.

AMD graphics team benefited a lot from Nvidia’s soar treatment of its partners and of course from good products made by ATI’s engineers. Now Mr Byrne is also selling CPUs as AMD hopes that his sales tactics might work on CPU market as well.

Reuven Soraya comes in John’s place and he will be the key guy responsible for GPU worldwide sales. Reuven was doing the same job with chipsets from 2003 and now he will do the graphics. We hope that this change will get AMD to the better position but since Phenom II introduction even the CPU sales are recovering, but there are still many things to be done.

Both Mr. Bryrne and Roraya are ex-ATI chaps.
