Getting faster

Intel plans to refresh its dual-core Celeron lineup, and this is to happen in Q2 2009.

Currently the fastest Celeron runs at 2.2GHz and it is branded as Celeron E1500. The new one, as the logic implies will end up with the E1600 brand and it will work at 2.4GHz.

This one is still based on the venerable Conroe 65nm core and it works at FSB 800MHz and has 512KB cache memory. These two cores have a TDP of 65W.

The new CPU launches in Q2 and you can expect it in e-tail for about €50.
