Lynnefield
, a more low-cost version of Nehalem that will work with the Ibex Peak chipset, will arrive in Q3 2009. This CPU can be expected between July and September. Basically, this definitely means that cheaper Intel quad-cores will be ready for back to school, OEMs' sales paradise, and a few Intel quad-cores will get fearsome, yet cheap competition.

The cheaper one will sell neck and neck with Q9400, which can be expected to sell for approximately $213 in quantities of 1000. The runner up Lynnefield should challenge Core i7 920 and it should be selling for $284 at launch, again in quantities of 1000.

The fastest Lynnfield, the CPU that is likely to be branded as Core i5 (maybe Core i6, ed.), will challenge Core i7 940 and Core i7 950 that will both sell for $562 in quantities of 1000.

However, the sexiest Nehalems will still be the Core i7 Extreme 965 at 3.20GHz, and the upcoming Core i7 Extreme 975 at 3.33GHz expected in late Q2.
