For distributors

We have learned that Phenom II will be available in last days of 2008, but only to distributors. A few sources have confirmed that distributors will start selling Phenom II 940 at 3GHz and Phenom II 920 at 2.8GHz in week 53, the one that starts on the 29th of December.

The real launch of Phenom II's is CES, and you should be able to buy one in the second week of 2009 and these two to launch do support AM2+ motherboard. Roughly a month after this launch or just a tad longer, AMD will launch Phenom II 9x5 versions that will support DDR3 memory and AM3 motherboard; and the beauty of these CPUs is that they will also work in AM2+ motherboards.

Phenom II will finally sound the bell of AMD’s recovery, as this CPU will be priced at the correct price, will overclock well and the infrastructure is much cheaper than Nehalem. The great thing about Phenom II is that it works in AMD 780FX / GX motherboards and it will have a cheap upgrade path, while with Nehalem, Core i7 you have to buy new memory, motherboard, CPU and cooler to make it work.
