Intel has plans to retire Centrino brand. We don’t know what is the alternative but we know that Intel is seriously considering one.

Our sources have told us that Intel believes that the brand has lost its momentum and that it is a time to replace it. Centrino 2 might easily be the last of its kind and after Centrino 2, Intel is planning to introduce some new brand.

Intel is one of the few IT companies who dares to change their well known brand and Intel has almost completely dropped Pentium brand and now it migrates from Core 2 to Core i7 brand. It is not as radical as last time, but Intel wants to show the world that this is not the same.

So expect to see a new brand for notebook, that will be successor of a world recognized brand Centrino.
