In Q3 2008

According to Intel’s own data, Quad-core at 65nm are going to be present in seven percent of all OEM machines it plans to sell in Q3 2008. The same document claims that 45nm quad-cores are going to be six percent of total Intel OEM output in Q3 2008.

If you compare these two values you can see that 65nm still gets more attention, mainly due to the extreme popularity of Q6600.

In Q4 2008 the tables will finally turn, as Intel plans to sell 5 percent 65nm and 8 percent 45nm, while in Q1 2009 it plans to sell only one percent 65nm quad cores and thirteen percent 45nm parts. It looks that this market doesn’t grow that much, as in Q2 2009 Intel plans to grow a total of 14 percent, while the quad-core market today is thirteen percent.

If you are thinking about the dominance of Quad cores in the near future, think again, 2009 will still remain the year of dual cores.
