Intel announced that they'll be supplying the social networking site Facebook with Xeon processors. Apparently, over the next year Facebook will be having "thousands“ of Intel Xeon 5400-based servers in their data centers.

Intel also said that Facebook thoroughly tested and benchmarked before deciding on Xeon 5400.

There’s no info on how much and whether Facebook paid Intel anything, so it’s not excluded that Intel simply wanted some nice PR.
