But rising in the long term

We’ve all been witnesses of a now almost epic battle between AMD and Intel, and although AMD hasn’t been faring well lately – all is not lost.

Apparently, AMD’s share dropped between Q4’07 and Q1’08, but at the same time, a comparison between Q1’07 and Q1’08 shows that they’ve actually been gaining ground.

In Q4’07, AMD had 14.1% of the global microprocessor market, but in Q1’08 that number sunk to 13%. However, since AMD had only 10.9% in Q1’07, it’s evident that they’ve actually gained 2.1 market share points in a year.

AMD allegedly took around half of those points from Intel, whereas the rest came from other smaller players.

More here.
