AMD is
about to launch Puma, their new notebook platform, and we have confirmed that AMD will use Turion X2 Ultra brand for its new platform.

Last year AMD came up with a funny and confusing sticker strategy that was supposed to challenge Centrino.

As we have reported before, Intel is about to launch Centrino 2 platform in June with a new wireless and chipset, and at the same time AMD already claimed more than one hundred design wins for AMD Turion X2 Ultra.

We don't like the fact that Puma uses a derived K8 core inside the new platform, but unfortunately, this was the best that they could come up with in such a short time.

At least Puma as a platform will have better graphics than Centrino 1 and 2 and you will be able to play some basic games on these notebooks.
