We've
already reported that Atom dual-core won't make it on the mobile platform in 2008, but it looks that Atom 3xx, which is the branding for the dual core part, should be ready to launch in Q3 2008.

We don’t have many details about the clocks, but these two physical cores will support two threads per core or four threads when you add them together and the TDP should be in the 8 to 10W range.

Many, including MSI, are planning desktop versions of Atom and we believe that with a properly priced case these small and quiet Atom-based dual core desktops can do really well.

In the real world we don’t expect the 1.6GHz dual-core Atom to be faster than a 1.6GHz dual-core Celeron, but only time will tell. On the other hand, Atom 3xx dual core should have much better TDP compared to Celeron dual-core, and this is its key winning bet.
