Samsung beat Apple to the punch

Removed the home button first

Leaked snaps of Samsung’s coming next generation smartphone show that once again the outfit has beaten its rival Apple to the innovation punch.

The leaks come from Twitter user @UniverseIce who provided five shots of the handset and promises to provide more. But this tweet shows that one important thing is missing from the Galaxy S8 – the home button.

Instead there is a super-wide infinity screen, an extra front-facing camera on the left hand side that hints Samsung’s new model is focused on selfies.

So far, it’s believed it will come with a larger display, a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device and a dedicated wireless charger.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were launched early last year and featured Quad HD displays, waterproof design and a Dual 12 megapixel camera.

The S7 Edge trumped the iPhone in reviews and cleaned up at several award ceremonies, so it looks like this new phone will be in a good position to give Apple’s low-innovation iPhone 8 a good kicking. If they don’t cock up the battery again and the thing catches fire.  Apple's policy is to remove only things that users find useful, such as the headphone jack and ports.
