Still waiting for Apple’s response

Samsung’s second-generation, high-end Galaxy Gear smartwatch set you back $300, the outfit has confirmed. It has also said that its Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit will go on sale for $200. ??AT&T will be taking pre-orders for all three on March 21st, with shipments starting in early April. ??

The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo feature 1.6 inch, 320 x 320 pixel displays, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, Bluetooth and IR ports. They are equipped with sensors capable of tracking steps, sleep patterns and heart rate. There is also a camera, albeit only for the higher-end Gear 2. Gear Fit has a 1.84-inch curved 432 x 128 pixel display, activity-tracking sensors and is fully capable of displaying incoming calls and other notifications from a paired smartphone via Bluetooth.

They run on Tizen, with Samsung releasing an SDK targeted at mobile devs interested in creating Android apps to communicate with the wearable devices. ??Meanwhile there is no news on Apple’s over hyped watch, which has still to reach the streets, or even be announced yet.

It seems that wearable computers, which were an obvious score for Apple, have been put on a Microsofteque time table and will probably only be available after all the break-throughs have been made.
