Things are getting so bad for the Canadian based RIM that it is even losing ground to the Apple iPhone on its home turf.

For a long time Canadians were jolly proud of their mobile phone based export, but now it seems that they have given up on the company. Based on data from IDC and Bloomberg, Apple has sold 2.85 million iPhones in Canada while RIM has only shipped 2.08 million units of its smaRrtphones last year.

IM CEO Thorsten Heins stated in an interview in January that "in the rest of the world, BlackBerry is growing very fast". RIM's strategy seems to be shifting toward Asia and chose Indonesia for the global launch of its new BlackBerry smartphones as well as to open an official retail store.
