The "inf" file reveals much more

Guru3D has posted the new ATI catalyst beta driver with support for the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars demo which should be available for download tommorow, September 10th.

The information from the driver release states that it is a hotfix for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars demo, and that it improves performance on ATI Radeon HD 2xxx series.

The things get even better if you start to dig a bit deeper. Apparently, the new 7.9 Catalyst beta confirms that DAAMIT finally gave a green light for the HD 2600 X2 cards. We wrote about the Gecube's Gemini and Sapphire's HD 2600 X2 solution.

The new driver has new id strings for ATI Radeon HD 2900 PRO and the new ATI Radeon HD 2350 series. The new ATI Radeon HD 2350 should be the crippled HD 2400, since it is based on RV610 chip. We wrote about the HD 2900 PRO before, it should end up with 160 Stream processors, 8 ROPs, 16 TMUs and a 256 bit memory interface.

"ATI Radeon HD 2900 PRO" = ati2mtag_R600,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9400&SUBSYS_30001002
"ATI Radeon HD 2900 PRO " = ati2mtag_R600, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9403

"ATI Radeon HD 2350 Series" = ati2mtag_RV610, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_94C3&SUBSYS_30001025

"ATI Radeon HD 2600 X2 Series" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_958A

You can download the XP and Vista 32bit drivers at Guru3D web site.
