Leaked slides warn of Vega delays

May not be here until the first half of 2017

A batch of slides from an AMD investor presentation suggests that the outfit has put the brakes on Vega cards for the enthusiast market.

The slides, obtained by Custom PC Preview suggest that rather than the cards showing up at the end of this year, enthusiasts will have to wait until the second half of next year.

According to the slides, AMD “Will launch ‘Vega’ for the enthusiast market in 1H 2017”. This is unfortunate news for those of us waiting on a high end graphics solution from AMD. Although, to be fair the 1H2017 was AMD’s original plan even when Polaris was first revealed.amd investor presentation 2016 Page 08

AMD was telling investors that its upcoming Zen architecture based “Summit Ridge” CPUs will begin volume shipping in 1Q2017. This squashes rumors that we would see it in late 2016. All this means that we will not see Zen based notebook offerings until the second half of 2H2017, well after the launch of AMD’s desktop Summit Ridge CPUs.
