Recent Radeon graphics card price drop was not AMD's doing

by on30 November 2015

Not an official price drop

A recent price drop of AMD Radeon graphics cards noticed at some US-based retailer/e-tailers apparently did not officially come from AMD but was a rather move from retailer/e-tailers probably related to the holidays.

According to a report from Tweaktown.com, AMD said that there is "no official price move on our part" and that this is probably "related to the holidays", so this also means that prices could be back to old ones after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The price drop was quite impressive and hopefully AMD will eventually officially drop prices to those levels. For example, Radeon R9 Fury X could be found for as low as US $569 after rebate while R9 Fury was down to US $499. The biggest price drop was for the R9 Nano, which went down from US $649 to US $549 after rebate.

Of course, we expect similar price drops during Christmas shopping season so it might be wise to hold out for those as well.
