AMD comes up with Catalyst 12.1 Preview driver

Support for HD 7900 series


In addition to Catalyst 11.12 WHQL drivers, AMD has released a new 12.1 Preview driver. The new preview driver brings early support for the upcoming Radeon HD 7900 series graphics cards as well as some other enhancements and performance improvements.

The full list of performance improvements with the new Catalyst 12.1 Preview driver are limited to Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and bring up to 10 percent improvement when multi-sample anti-aliasing is enabled on the AMD Radeon HD 6900 series for both single and CrossfireX configurations.

The new Preview driver brings Application Profiles for AMD Catalyst Control Center/Vision Engine Control Center that give users an ability to create per application profiles to indicidually control 3D and and CrossfireX settings for Direct3D applications. It also brings AMD HD#D Technology support enhancement that enables support for AMD HD3D technology with AMD CrossfireX configurations and delivers a new Stereo 3D mode over HDMI 1.4a connections. The rest includes Video UI improvements that simplify adjustment of video color and video quality controls in AMD CCC/VECC.
