Nvidia to prioritize partners

Some don't have reference PCB designs yet

With
Fermi’s arrival date scheduled for 26th of March, Nvidia seems to be considering its priorities upon launch and is allegedly picking its field generals for the battle versus the red team.

Digitimes reports that second-tier graphics card manufacturers are unlikely to mass ship Fermi based cards before April and the reason hides behind the fact that most of them haven’t even received reference board designs. Strangely enough, most partners we talked to say they received their designs and that there're not many partners left for prioritizing business to begin with.

If this is indeed true, it would mean that only first-tier graphics makers will have their products out early, which would probably negatively reflect on its already high reported initial pricing. Unfortunately for the customers, AMD’s graphics pricing isn’t quite grand as of late either.

It has been expected that AMD will drop its pricing in order to counter Nvidia, but Nvidia’s prices are apparently higher as it is, so it has been suggested that price-wars won’t really come to be until after May.

Be it as it may, it appears that until the price wars commence, users be losers.

More here.
