In Q3

Jon Peddie Research has done some number crunching and reported great Q3 results as far as the graphics market is concerned. The research also included market share or each of the graphics giants, and although we'd never consider Intel a graphics giant, the research covered both discrete and integrated graphics, where Intel still reigns.

The research says that compared to Q2, Q3 saw Intel and AMD shipments grow by 25.2% and 30.2% respectively. Unfortunately for the green team, Nvidia's growth was at just 3.3%. In comparison to Q3 2008, the Intel and AMD shipments grew by 14.6% and 3.1% respectively, while Nvidia fared backwards and the shipments decreased by 4%.

As for the market share, Intel proudly holds 52.7% of the market thanks to their godawful IGPs, while Nvidia and AMD are at 24.9% and 19.8% respectively.

Additionally, it has been suggested that Q4 growth might not be as good as the channel is full and products are yet to be moved. The reasons for this probably hide behind the DX 11 and Windows 7 hitting the market, where no-one minds excess inventory, but we'd say that the same quarter or Q1 2010 at the latest will see Nvidia getting its share of success.
