2nd Team looks at new Jak & Daxter

Instead, settled on new The Last of Us

Some have wondered about the fate of a new Jak & Daxter title for the PlayStation 3. Apparently, the second team at developer Naughty Dog has extensively looked at the possibility of a new Jak & Daxter title before it was decided that instead they would develop the new title, The Last of Us.

Naughty Dog’s decision not to produce a new Jak & Daxter title was partly due to the fact that they didn’t think they could give the fans what they wanted. While they are not working on a new Jak & Daxter title, it is possible that the Uncharted team could still be tasked with developing a new title at some point in the future. (Not sure how this will happen until Uncharted has run its course.)

The Last of Us does represent new IP for Naughty Dog and, of course, they are excited about it. What is in the future of Jak & Daxter remains a mystery at this point, because without some new ideas and concepts that fit what they believe the fans want, we may have seen the last of the Jak and Daxter franchise for a while.
