Theif 4 in development

by on18 January 2012

Will feature multiplayer as part of it

News has reached us that Theif 4 continues in development for Square Enix. Theif 4 will apparently be powered by the Unreal 3 Engine, which isn’t a big surprise considering that the company signed a large licensing deal for the use of its engine across multiple Square Enix upcoming titles.

If recent snooping in the job market listings means anything, it looks like Theif 4 is going to offer multiplayer, which will be a first in the Theif franchise. The company has advertised that it is looking for a developer to work specifically on the multiplayer part of the game.

It is hard to know how far along they are with Theif 4, as we have not heard anything official on the status of the game since 2009 when it was said that the title was coming. Sources tell us that we should look for news on this one at E3 and look for it to arrive late this year, which can’t be soon enough to see the Theif franchise return.
